The Security Service of Ukraine has made public audio recordings evidencing that Major-General Valeriy Shaitanov worked for Russian special services and was preparing the murder of volunteer Adam Osmayev. The SBU press service published the record of telephone conversations.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Shaitanov had been secretly meeting with representatives of Russian special services not only in Ukraine but also in France, Germany and Croatia.
On audio recordings of conversations, it can be heard that the parties planned to commit terrorist attacks. They also discussed the amount of “reward” and ways of the murder of Adam Osmayev, the concealment of evidence of a crime, as well as the “ways of retreat” to Russia.
The SBU claims to have evidence that, on task of the Russian special services, the Major-General planned terrorist acts in Ukraine and as a reward for this, an FSB representative allegedly promised a $200,000 reward and a Russian citizen's passport.
According to the investigator, Shaitanov collected and transferred to the Russian side information on covert operations in the Donbas conflict area and provided many other classified information.
