Until the end of 2022, at least 50% of the population will be vaccinated in Ukraine as 112 Ukraine TV channel reported citing Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal.
“The immunization of the population with the safe and efficient vaccine against coronavirus disease is the most important component of the government strategy to overcome Covid-19. The government has a clear plan on holding the vaccination, contracted the necessary amount of the vaccine that is needed to enable everyone to get such a possibility and prepared the necessary logistic infrastructure to start a campaign on the vaccination in February,” Shmygal said.
He noted that the road map of vaccination includes five stages.
The first stage – the vaccination of people with critical risk of infection: medical employees and staff that provide help to people with Covid-19, people at home for elderly people, military men from the Joint Forces Operation zone who stay at the frontline. It is planned to vaccinate 367,000 people within the first stage.
The second stage – the vaccination of people with a very high risk of infection: social workers, people over the age of 80, other medical employees. It is planned to vaccinate 2,540,000 people within the second stage.
The third stage – the vaccination of people with a high risk of infection and people who perform duties on support and safety of state’s functioning: the Emergency Service, police, the Security Service, teachers, other categories. It is planned to vaccinate 7,200,000 people within the third stage.
The fourth stage – the vaccination of people with increased levels of infection: people at the age from 60 up to 64; adults with coexistent illnesses and other categories of the population.
The fifth state – the vaccination of other citizens who do not enter the priority groups.
“The common goal of the road map is the coverage of at least 50% of the population until the end of 2022,” the PM added.
According to him, Ukraine would be provided with the necessary amount of safe vaccines. It would take place in the mentioned terms.
Earlier, Denys Shmygal stated that Ukraine is getting ready to sign or has already signed contracts for the supply of more than 30 million doses of coronavirus vaccine.
