Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 was filed for registration in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Center for Public Health of the Health Ministry of Ukraine.

"An application has been submitted to the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for state registration of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 in Ukraine under the obligation for emergency medical use," the statement reads.

The center also said that on the same day, the World Health Organization approved the AstraZeneca vaccine for emergency use and gave the green light for the use of this vaccine worldwide under the COVAX initiative.

It is noteworthy that Ukraine received information from COVAX on the supply of vaccines from the manufacturer of Oxford/AstraZeneca in the amount of 2.2 to 3.7 million doses in the I-II quarters of 2021. In addition, the vaccine will be purchased for public funds directly from manufacturers. It is expected that at least 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be available in Ukraine in February 2021.

European Commission also gave final approval to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
