The Appeal Court of Kyiv partially satisfied the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine by sentencing Mikheil Saakashvili, the leader of 'Rukh Novykh Syl' Party to house arrest since 22:00 to 7:00 as 112 Ukraine reported.
The correspondent also noted that during the court session the Prosecutor's Office made an application for the removal of one of the prosecutors, however, the application was rejected by the court.
As we reported earlier, on December 8 the enforcement officers detained ex-governor of Odesa region Mikheil Saakashvili and took him to the Security Service department, where he was placed in a detention facility. He is accused of supporting a criminal group.
On December 5, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko announced that the protests organized by Saakashvili had been financed by allies of ex-President Yanukovych. As proof, he made public the audio file, in which Saakashvili’s aide is talking to a trustee of oligarch Serhiy Kurchenko. Saakashvili called these accusations “fake”.
Pechersk Court of Kyiv refused the Prosecutor General’s Office to choose the home arrest as the restriction measure for Mikheil Saakashvili on December 11.
Today, on January 26, Saakashvili claimed that Ukraine appealed to Poland with the request on his readmission.
