The Appeal Court of Kyiv invalidated the house arrest of Ihor Pavlovsky, the Deputy Defense Minister suspected in the embezzlement of 5.6 million dollars while purchasing of the fuel for the Defense Ministry. Denys Masenko, the chairman of the panel of judges claimed this as Ukrainian News reported.
‘The appeal petition should be partially sustained’, Masenko announced the court judgment.
Appeal Court invalidated the decision of Solomensky district court on the house arrest of the suspect.
At the same time, the court released Pavlovsky under the personal guarantee of Oleksandr Porkhun and Ihor Gerasymenko who possess the grating title of Hero of Ukraine.
Pavlovsky was also obliged not to leave the city where he lives without the permission of the investigator, to surrender the travel passport and to not communicate with other involvants of this case.
The pretrial restrictions will be in force until December 10.
As 112 International reported, four officials working for the Ministry got busted and were accused of embezzling state funds while buying fuel for the army in 2016. National Anti-Corruption Bureau and Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office found out that Ministry of Defense used a corrupt scheme when contracting fuel and embezzled state funds for the amount of over 5,7 million USD.
Solomensky district court of Kyiv chose a pre-trial for Ihor Pavlovsky, Ukrainian deputy defense minister, - 24-hour house arrest on October 12.
