“Antonov” state enterprise intends to resume the assembly of the heavy transport aircraft An-124 “Ruslan” at the end of 2019. Serhy Omelchenko, the First Deputy Director-General of “Ukroboronprom” made such statement as TSTS reported.
“We actively cooperate with a few international companies, which produce the aviation technology. Now we are at the final state of the complete transformation of the electronic constituent of this aircraft. And we hope that it will be finally adopted by the engineering and design group of “Antonov” to begin the assembly of the first plane this year,” Omelchenko noted.
The assembly will be held without the use of the Russian components.
As we reported Ukraine and NATO will continue the cooperation on the Strategic Airlift Interim Solution program on the fulfillment of the strategic transport air cargo flights. The Strategic Airlift Interim Solution program is the union of 14 countries, which use An-124-100 “Ruslan” planes for support of the operations of the NATO and the EU.
Besides, Ukraine and Canada negotiate on the possible joint use of Ukraine's middle-class Antonov aircraft.
