The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has suspended two detectives mentioned by journalists of Bihus.info in the investigation on embezzlement at Ukroboronprom from their posts as the NABU reported on Facebook.
The decision to suspend the detectives from the post was made by NABU Head Artem Sytnyk.
“For maximal efficiency of the internal investigation and minimization of the possible influence and risks, I made a decision to suspend the detectives involved in the preparation of the letters published by Bihus.info journalists. I am sure, it is necessary to begin the analysis of the facts carefully in such situation. We will pass the results of the internal investigation to the State Bureau of Investigations and report to the society about them,” Sytnyk said.
February 25, journalist investigations Bihus.Info, Nashi Hroshi program alleged that Igor Gladkovsky, the son of close Poroshenko ally Oleh Gladkovsky, deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, organized a corruption scheme to smuggle spare military-equipment parts from Russia in 2015. State defense facilities purchased the smuggled spare parts from private companies linked to Hladkovsky and his friends at highly inflated prices. Ukroboronprom state concern, which supervises defense industry production facilities, knew the origin of the smuggled parts but agreed to purchase them.
Igor Gladkovsky, along with Vitaliy Zhukov (former advisor of “Ukroboronprom” Director, the member of supervisory council of “Meridian” company till 2013, former assistant of Yuriy Tereshchenko, ex-Head of State Service of export control, Oleg Gladkovsky’s friend, - ed.) and Andriy Rogoza (CEO of “Inter Steel Ltd.”, - ed.) were supplying smuggled Russian components and components from the Ukrainian military units through straw companies at prices 2-4 times higher than market ones.
On March 4, President Petro Poroshenko dismissed Oleh Gladkovsky, deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council from his post.
As it was reported earlier, the investigators of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office detained the acting and former directors of the State Foreign Trade Enterprise SpetsTechnoExport on suspicion of embezzling $2,225 million, according to NABU.
Besides, the NABU has registered a new criminal proceeding after the third video on the embezzlement in the purchase in the defense sector was published by the journalists.
