The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has promised to analyze the information about embezzlement in the supplies in the army published by the journalists of “Nashi Groshi” (Our Money) show, as the NABU reported on Facebook.
“The NABU detectives will analyze the information about corruption’s facts in the defense sphere published in the journalist investigation of Lesya Ivanova and provide it with the proper investigation,” the message said.
It is noted that the enterprises mentioned in the material are already the objects of the NABU investigations. “Generally, the detectives investigate the corruption at about 15 enterprises of the defense and industrial complex within a few dozens criminal proceedings. On one of such enterprises, Lviv Armored Plant, the investigation is finished,” the message said.
The body also reported that the investigations of the corruption schemes in the defense sphere are “difficult and have their own peculiarities.” Particularly, the purchases of the goods are closed (without any tenders). Some part of the documents, including those, which can be the evidence, are marked as classified; the market of goods of the military and dual-purpose is absent and it complicates the holding of the examination and determination of their market price; the determination of the circumstances of the commitment of the crime needs receiving of the information from the abroad and it lasts for sixth months or more.
February 25, journalist investigations Bihus.Info, Nashi Hroshi program alleged that Igor Gladkovsky, the son of close Poroshenko ally Oleh Gladkovsky, deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, organized a corruption scheme to smuggle spare military-equipment parts from Russia in 2015. State defense facilities purchased the smuggled spare parts from private companies linked to Hladkovsky and his friends at highly inflated prices. Ukroboronprom state concern, which supervises defense industry production facilities, knew the origin of the smuggled parts but agreed to purchase them.
Igor Gladkovsky, along with Vitaliy Zhukov (former advisor of “Ukroboronprom” Director, the member of supervisory council of “Meridian” company till 2013, former assistant of Yuriy Tereshchenko, ex-Head of State Service of export control, Oleg Gladkovsky’s friend, - ed.) and Andriy Rogoza (CEO of “Inter Steel Ltd.”, - ed.) were supplying smuggled Russian components and components from the Ukrainian military units through straw companies at prices 2-4 times higher than market ones.
Ukrainian presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko has initiated impeachment proceedings against Poroshenko, as his own Kuznia na Rybalskomy company was involved in the corruption schemes as a straw company.
