According to the information, a citizen of Sumy region born in 1977 is the victim of the incident.
At the moment, the actions for the identification of another two persons, a child and a man, continue.
As for today, seven deceased are identified. Two citizens of Odesa region, two Kyiv citizens, one citizen of Dnipro and citizen of Australia are proved to be dead.
On the night of August 17, a large-scale fire broke out at the Odesa Hotel Tokyo Star, as a result of which eight people died and ten were injured. This was reported by the press office of the State Emergency Service.
It is noted that a message about a fire in the hotel was received by the rescuers at 1:34. 13 units of equipment and 65 personnel were involved in extinguishing the fire. They managed to eliminate fire on 1,000 square meters area at 4:32. As a result of the incident, 8 people died, another 10 were injured.
On the fact of the incident, law enforcement authorities opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Art. 270 (violation of fire safety requirements established by law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The owner of the hotel said he would be fully responsible for the fire in case his guilt was proved by the law enforcers. Later owner of the hotel Vadym Chorny was detained.
On August 20, hotel’s owner Vadym Chorny was arrested for two months without a right for bail.
