Another Ukrainian provider blocks Russian websites

Volia provider initiated actions to restrict access to Russian social networks prohibited in Ukraine starting from May 22. This was reported at the company’s website

"From May 22 we are starting to restrict access to web-sites, mentioned in the decree. Engineering works will be completed by June 1," the message reads.

Company advises its users to save important information from Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks on other storages.

Also, if user’s e-mail is currently under resource, which falls within the ordinance, Volia asks to change it for Ukrainian or international (for example,,,, or other). 

President Petro Poroshenko signed the decree banning major Russian web portals and social networks on May 16, 2017. Sanctions against Russian companies took force in Ukraine. VKontakte, Yandex, Odnoklassniki and other, 468 legal entities overall, as well as over a thousand individuals are on the new sanction list. Most Ukrainian users have already lost access to the respective websites.
