Another Ukrainian citizen was detained in Minsk for participation in protests on Freedom Day in Belarus. This was announced by the head of consular department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Vasyl Kyrylych, reports Hromadske.

“According to preliminary information, another Ukrainian citizen was detained, he is now in the offenders seclusion center in Minsk. As of 17:00, the decision to suit him has not been taken,” Kyrylych said.

A note was directed to Belarusian MFA to receive full and objective information on reasons of the arrest, according to him.

Earlier it was reported that Belarus celebrated Freedom Day on March 25. Planned events were replaced by mass detentions. People planned to celebrate Freedom Day with a rally and march in Minsk. The start was scheduled for 14:00 at the Academy of Sciences. First there should have been a rally, and then - Freedom March.

Soon it was reported about the arrests of hundreds of people as well as 57 human rights defenders and volunteers. Later the same day they were released, four of them appeared to have Ukrainian residence permit.
