Ukrainian animator Sashko Danylenko posted a half-minute trailer for his new film "Monk." A song of the same name by the band Dakha Brakha is at the base of the story. The video appeared on Youtube channel of the film director.
"To whom does the monk raise his glass and to whom he prays? When the sun sets over the river, everything becomes gray and it's harder to distinguish black from white, draw a line between them. The monk crosses this border in search of an answer, "Danylenko said about the plot of his future short films.
The director adds that he got the idea of creating this film two years ago at the concert of Dakha Brakha band in New York.
"Images in my head began to build up and the story fogged out. The concept became more detailed, details and ideas of technical and artistic solutions appeared until the moment came when I realized that the only way to see this film was to make it. It was not in my plans and schedule, but the pressure from within and the desire to see the finished story pushed me to action," Danylenko wrote on Facebook.
The premiere of the cartoon will take place at the Linoleum Animation Festival, which will be held in Kyiv on September 6 - 9.
Earlier, in 2012, Danylenko released a video for the song of Dakha Brakha band "Carpathian Rap." When creating that video, he also used black and white drawings.
In addition, this director has produced music videos for the songs of TNMK bands, Ocheretyany KIT, Morj and others.
As it was reported earlier, more than thirty Ukrainian starts participated in the creation of “Starry alphabet” of sign language.
