The prosecutor's office reported that three more servicemen were suspected of An-26 military aircraft's crash near Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region on September 25, 2020, as a result of which 26 servicemen were killed. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
Suspicion of a violation of the rules for preparing and conducting flights and poor attitude towards military service were received by: the deputy commander of the military unit A4104, where the disaster occurred and the deputy commander of the indicated military unit for flight training.
The third suspect, a deputy of the regional council, who at the time of the disaster was acting head of Kharkiv National University of the Air Force, is suspected of negligent military service.
The pre-trial investigation in this criminal case is scheduled to be completed in May 2021.
As we reported earlier, on September 25, at about 20:50 near the military airport of Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region, a military aircraft AN-26 fell and caught fire. None of those aboard the plane survived the crash.
Rescue work was carried out by 70 people of the State Emergency Situations Service. According to preliminary estimates of flight safety specialists, one of the sensors in the left engine of the aircraft failed.
The State Bureau of Investigations notified Ukraine's Air Force Commander-in-Chief Serhiy Drozdov of suspicion with negligence, which led to the tragedy of An-26 aircraft in Kharkiv region in September.
Notification letters of suspicion were also handed over to flight dispatcher of Chuhuiv airfield, and to the unit commander who approved the flight plan that contained violations.
