An-132D plane is a unique example of cooperation with NATO member states in the history of Ukraine’s aviation. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this during his speech on occasion of the first flight of An-132D plane broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
Poroshenko announced that the cooperation with NATO member states in aviation sphere is developing:
“An-132D is a unique example of the cooperation in the history of Ukrainian aviation that proves the need for development and introduction of production cooperation with Western partners. I emphasize that now such cooperation is being built up with the NATO member countries,” the President said.
“I am proud for my compatriots, for thousands of workers not only of the Antonov plant, but of many Ukrainian factories that have made and will make every effort to make the An-132D a part of the series. And today the main event has happened - our plane flew up to the sky,” he said.
Ukraine now works on import substitution to “open the way to the sky” for An-178, according to the President.
“In the first flight, our AN-132D was accompanied by its "Antonov brother" - An-178. Having started flights almost two years ago, it practically completed the flight testing program and was highly appreciated by the world aviation experts at the most prestigious airshows of the world where we exhibited it. Now we are also working on import substitution and this opens a powerful road to the sky for An178D. All this provides the new An series plane with an opportunity to take a worthy place on market, and Ukraine can quickly and effectively strengthen its positions on the international arena as a powerful and reliable partner,” he added.
Earlier it was reported that “Antonov” may receive British equipment for its aircraft under import substitution. The issue of cooperation was discussed by the head of Ukroboronprom and British Minister of Defence.
