Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved a new date of upcoming local elections

In Ukraine, 92,000 citizens changed the electoral address to vote at the local elections as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing Head of the Committee of voters of Ukraine Oleksiy Koshel.

“In our view, it is a small figure, unfortunately. Totally, in Ukraine, from 5.5 up to 6 million voters who need to change the electoral address. It is the internally displaced people, labor migrants. Totally, about a million people who do not have the registration at all,” Koshel said.

He added that 92,000 voters are 1.6% from the number of voters who could change the electoral address.

Koshel stated that during the work on the Election Code, it is necessary to reconsider the mechanism that determines the categories of the voters who are enabled to change the address.

As we reported, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the start of the electoral campaign for the upcoming local elections - September 5.

Local elections will be held in Ukraine on October 25, 2020. 326 MPs voted for the relevant resolution № 3809.
