The pumping station of the South Donbas water pipeline was left without electricity on April 6 due to the shelling of the militants in Donbas. It is situated in the ‘grey' zone between Vasylivka and Kruta Balka villages. Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko reported that on Facebook.
The employees of the station succeeded to hide in a bomb shelter; no casualties reported. However, the water supply is stopped.
According to the official, the pumping station supplies water to four filtration stations: Karlivska, Velykoanadolska, Starokrymska #1, and #2.
The sappers, energy workers, and employees of Donbas Water, and other specials will examine the shooting place to define the amount of work that should be done. The works on the restoration of the station will start as soon as the Ukrainian side receives guarantees of observation of the ceasefire regime under the monitoring of the OSCE.
Earlier, another water pipeline break was observed in Donbas, which left residents of five settlements without any access to water supplies. The break took place at Horlivka-Toretsk pipeline, which reaches 900 mm in diameter. The incident occurred on January 4. Residents of Toretsk, Zalizne, Pivnichne, Pivdenne and Shcherbynivka are now staying without water supplies; that's some 38,000 people in total.
