The regulatory committee of the Verkhovna Rada recognized seven draft decrees on the date of the inauguration of President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky legal, as 112 Ukraine reported.
All of the draft decrees offer to hold the inauguration on May 17, May 19, May 20, May 26 or May 28. One of the decrees offers to hold the ceremony in two stages: on May 19 at the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada and on June 3 at Olympic Stadium.
Another decree provided the holding of the ceremony on June 1 but it was withdrawn later.
Acting Head of the regulatory committee Pavlo Penzenyk emphasizes that the inauguration in two stages is not provided by the current legislation.
He added that the voting on the appointment of the date of the inauguration on May 17 and May 28 will take place twice as the agenda must be amended.
Parliament’s speaker announced that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will define the date of the inauguration on May 16.
Zelensky, the popular comedian and actor, won the presidential election in Ukraine in both rounds, held on March 31 and April 28. He scored almost 75 percent of all votes, while his opponent, the incumbent President Petro Poroshenko collected 24,25 percent.
As we reported earlier, President-Elect Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a message to the parliament, where he called on the MPs to appoint the date of the inauguration on May 19 in order to cease the staff activity of the current President Petro Poroshenko.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko respects the choice of Ukrainians and the positions of the highest legislative body. He will accept any date of inauguration, which the Verkhovna Rada will appoint.
