On February 26, Pershiy Nezalezhniy (First Independent) TV channel was absolutely illegally disconnected from the broadcasting an hour after its start; however, despite the obvious criminal actions of the authorities, we are not going to give up and soon we will resume the broadcasting at the satellite and cable networks.
Moreover, we intend to fight against the despotism of the authorities in the legal space; we will file lawsuits on the recognition of the actions of state bodies and law enforcement bodies, claiming they were illegal.
We address everyone who yesterday together with us was glad about the launch of our TV channel and then, together with us was upset due to its illegal disconnection. Friends, colleagues, audience, readers! We thank you for your support! We will do everything to appear on your TV again. Meantime, freedom of speech lives on the internet. You can watch and hear us on YouTube.
Besides, we would like to address people who thoughtlessly laughed and were mindlessly joyful about the disconnection of Pershiy Nezalezhniy TV channel. Yesterday, another step was made for the destruction of the state with the rule-of-law. We are sorry that you do not understand that the repressions "without trial and investigation" aiming against us can be used against you tomorrow. There will be no one to protect you. For the best protection is the law, the destruction of the mechanisms of which you are so recklessly happy about.
President of Pershiy Nezalezhniy TV channel Yehor Benkendorf: “We continue the work even if not in a usual regime. It is temporary. Soon we will resume broadcasting at the satellite and cable networks to tell people the truth about events in the country. We have all possibilities to do it and the most important – the team of real professionals”.
The journalists of Pershiy Nezalezhniy TV channel contributed tremendous force in the creation of their project and they will not betray the most important thing they have – our audience that, we are sure, will provide fair estimation to the illicit actions of the authorities toward media and speech freedom in Ukraine.
