President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko awarded renowned Ukrainian actress Ada Rogovtseva with the Alexander Dovzhenko Award of 2017, according to his Facebook.

“I am happy to award Ada Rogovtseva with the Alexander Dovzhenko Award of 2017. Formally, “for an immense contribution into Ukrainian cinematography”. And informally – just because Ukraine loves her,” he wrote.

Ada Rogovtseva became an actress of the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Theater of Russian Drama in 1958, where she has worked for over 35 years. The actress has also appeared in over 30 films and television shows since the beginning of her career.

She is a professor at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts and teaches at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University.
