Action to pay tribute to the memory of public activist Kateryna Handziuk takes place near the building of the Ministry of Interior in Kyiv. This was reported by the 112 Ukraine correspondent.
“Before the start of the rally, when people were laying out the words “She was killed” with sanctuary lamps, there were some kind of clashes with law enforcement officers. They (the police) claimed that such actions were a violation. But now these lamps are burning, we can also see posters with the inscription: “Who is the killer of Katya Handziuk?” Friends, acquaintances, and everyone who knew this woman require an objective investigation of the attempt on her life," the reporter noted.
In addition, similar actions were also announced in Lviv, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky, Odesa, and Zhytomyr.
Earlier we reported that the entire evidential base in Kateryna Handziuk’s case was collected by law enforcers, and the materials will be submitted to the court in the near future, head of the National Police of Ukraine Serhiy Knyazev wrote on Facebook.
“The investigation is almost complete, the entire evidential base has been gathered, and we will submit the materials of the criminal proceedings to the court in the near future. If the guilt of the detainees is proved, they face up to 15 years or life imprisonment,” Knyazev said.
He added that the police expect that the detained organizers of the attack on Handziuk will give additional testimony about those who ordered the crime.
Earlier, post about the death of Kateryna Handziuk, Adviser of Kherson's Mayor, appeared in social media. According to preliminary information, the death was caused by thrombus detachment.
Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine's Prosecutor General, took the case under his own control. He reported that the attack on the adviser was a part of the plan to destabilize the situation in the south of Ukraine. Later the investigation was transferred to the central office of the Security Service.
