According to him, as of today, there issues with the vaccination process due to the small number of doses. In May 2021, the situation with access to vaccination will improve. The Health Ministry expects the closure of contracts, including on AstraZeneca/Covishield (1.5 million doses) and Sinovac (1.7 million doses) vaccines.
Stepanov noted that anti-Covid-19 vaccination ‘is failed almost all over the world’, first of all, due to the so-called medical nationalism. According to him, Ukraine had to receive 100% of 3.9 million paid doses of vaccines against coronavirus; however, it received 715,000 doses of distributed vaccine and 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine within the COVAX program.
“The countries on the territory of which the production is situated, they simply ban export in the full volume; they don’t care who signed contracts. They protect their own citizens and they are not ready to give the vaccine to other countries. It takes place in all countries,” Stepanov said.
Meanwhile, the minister urged Ukrainians to report abuse during the Covid-19 vaccination.
“I would like to officially appeal to all Ukrainians: if some of you own proper information about any abuse of vaccines, you can call the contact line of the Health Ministry or report it in any other way,” Stepanov said.
As we reported, 8,940 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Ukraine. Particularly, 414 children and 251 medics got infected.
