Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, 54,919 people have died from the coronavirus, including 44,940 people over the age of 60, the Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko announced, according to the press service of the Ministry of Healthcare.

“82% of all deaths from Covid-19 are elderly people over the age of 60. Therefore, vaccination of this group of people remains a priority of the Ministry of Health,” the minister said.

According to him, a pilot project of mobilization for vaccination of the elderly population is being completed in Poltava region.

“In two communities, volunteers invited people for vaccinations in advance, formed organized teams, and then the mobile team instantly vaccinated everyone. Thus, the dynamics of vaccinations has increased many times and among people aged over 60,” said Lyashko.

He explained that people, especially retirees, were told about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines.

As it was reported earlier, more than 98% of Ukrainians hospitalized with coronavirus in the last three months had not been vaccinated.
