On Monday, July 31, Tsentrenergo signed a deal with American company Xcoal Energy & Resources for a 700,000 ton anthracite coal delivery, as Tsentrenergo press service informs.

“The first vessel with 85,000 tons of coal is to come to Yuzhne port in the beginning of this September. All the American coal is to be sent to Trypilska  thermal power station, which will enable the station to renew the operation and steadily work in autumn and winter of 2017-2017,” the message says.

It is noted that the contract is signed as a part of the agreement between the presidents of Ukraine and the US, reached during Petro Poroshenko’s visit to the USA.

As it was reported earlier, Ukraine imports coal from South Africa. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine earlier stated that Ukraine will be independent from hard coal by 2019.
