In Ukraine, 361 (0.5%) cases of minor side effects were observed per over 62,000 vaccinations against coronavirus. Two cases needed the observation of doctors as Ukrinform reported citing Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.
“For over than 62,000 vaccinations, we have registered only 361 side effects – 0.5%. Only two reactions of them needed the observation of doctors. In the first case, it was the beginning of the anaphylactic shock, allergy. The increase of temperature during two days was observed in the second case and the doctors decided that it is necessary to observe this person. Such reactions might occur for any vaccine; it is the immunobiological preparation that is why a person who is inherent to allergies can have it. 0.5% is a very small amount,” Stepanov noted.
According to the Health Minister, other reactions spotted among vaccinated people were minor. It means the increase of temperature, headache, redness of the injection place.
To detect the allergy, it is necessary to observe the patient for 30 minutes after the vaccination. Allergy manifests itself during 30 minutes and the medical employees can stop it.
Since the beginning of the campaign, 71,923 people were vaccinated with CoviShield.
Earlier, chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko stated that Ukrainians will not be able to choose between CoviShield and Pfizer vaccines. According to him, when a particular vaccine is delivered to Ukraine, managers, and experts will determine how to use the drug as efficiently as possible.
