$35,6 million to be allocated for Ukrainian film industry in 2019

$35,6 million will be allocated from the state budget for the film industry in 2019 as Volodymyr Groysman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine reported on Facebook.

“The Ukrainian films become more popular. In 2018, the shooting of 29 films was finished and the year is even not finished. To not decrease the pace of the shooting of our films, we will allocate $35,6 million next year for the support of the film industry,” Groysman wrote.

As we reported, Ukrainian film “Weightlifter” directed by Dmytro Sukholytky-Sobchuk got the main award in the short-films competition of the 34th Warsaw International Film Festival.

Besides, Ukrainian drama "Donbas" by Serhiy Loznytsia entered Oscar’s long-list. This film was also nominated for Kinokolo film award in four categories

In September 2018, the Premiere date of historical action movie of Ukrainian filmmaker Akhtem Seitablayev 'Zakhar Berkut' (The Rising Hawk) was announced. It wiil take place on October 10, 2019.
