300 Ukrainians can not fly out from Tunis for two days now. According to mass media, the actions of the tour operator and the flight’s carrier were the reasons for this.
The Consular Service Department of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the information.
“Due to the flight delay a few hundreds of the Ukrainian tourists from Tunis and inability of the tour operator to return Ukrainian citizens to the Motherland Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry calls the Ukrainian citizens who intend to travel abroad for taking into account the following recommendations…,” the message says.
In particular, the Department recommends the Ukrainians to carefully plan their trips considering the unexpected conditions; to choose the tour operators attentively; to review the conditions of the contract on the provision of the tourism service attentively; to take into account the security in the state and the international airports.
It is known that the Ukrainians are at Monastir Airport. According to them, the airline and the tour operator do not fulfill their obligations concerning the return of Ukrainians home.
The consul left for the airport, as Vasyl Kyrylych, the Deputy Head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Consulate Service Department, reported on Twitter.
“The consul is having a meeting with the Ukrainian tourists in Monastir (Tunisia). We are trying to settle the situation. Again, we focus Ukrainians’ attention to a well-considered choice of a tour operator while planning to travel abroad,” he wrote.
