On October 1, in Lviv regional infectious hospital, a three-year-old boy died due to measles. Natalya Tymko, the doctors – epidemiologist of this hospital claimed this as ZAXID.NET reported.
It is stated that a boy lived at Zhovkva district of Lviv region and was hospitalized two weeks ago. The disease caused the complication in the form of the inflammation in the brain (encephalitis). The doctors could not save the child.
Oleg Kogut, the director of Lviv regional lab, center claimed that the boy was vaccinated against measles.
It is the second death of a child in Lviv region this year. In April, a three-year-old girl died from the complications caused by measles.
Lviv region is a leader in the number of the people sickened with measles, 6,310 cases, including 1,964 adults and 4,346 children, were spotted. The second place is occupied by Zakarpattia with 3,126 cases.
Earlier we reported that 28 children got sick with measles in one of the Vinnytsia region schools. The measles outbreak is connected with the fact that the parent refuse from the vaccination.
Earlier it was reported that as of September 12, 30,744 persons have been sickened with measles since the beginning of 2018.
Also, Moldova imposed the “orange” threat level on the results of the session of the national emergency commission for public health. It is noted that the highest number of the cases were spotted in the southern regions of Moldova.
Also, the European Health Security Agency reported that Ukraine was the third in Europe on the number of people infected with measles in 2017. The leaders are Romania and Italy.
