In Ukraine, 29% of educators are fully vaccinated, according to the Head of the Chief Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Yuriy Kononenko, Hromadske Radio reports.
"We are starting to work in the usual mode: with a mask regime and social distancing. As of August 27, about 185 thousand educators have been fully vaccinated - that's 29%. And 23%, which takes up another 145.5 thousand people, have been vaccinated with one dose," Kononenko states.
The Ministry of Education and Science considers such indicators successful. But they say they are working to increase performance. "We are working to promote vaccination and ensure that all employees have access to the vaccine," Kononenko added.
He also noted that it is not mandatory to be vaccinated to start working. The law stipulates that the vaccination of 80% of school staff will be required for full-time education if the institution is in the orange zone. Otherwise, schools will work remotely. "Currently, all educational institutions in Ukraine are in the green zone," Kononenko stresses.
In addition, the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine proposes to consider various options for organizing the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year and to adhere to restrictive anti-epidemic measures. The Ministry of Healthcare listed alternative options for holding ceremonial events on September 1.
