2,800 Russians prevented from entering Ukraine in 2019

In 2019, the border guards of Ukraine did not let over 2,800 Russia in Ukraine, as Petro Tsyhykal, the Chairman of State Border Guards Service, said, Internal Ministry press office reported.

Since the beginning of 2014, the flow of Russians to Ukraine reduced almost by three times – from 15 to 5 million people.

“This year the border guards of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service did not let over 2,800 Russians to Ukraine. In 2018, the figure reached 10,000 people,” Tsyhykal stated.

It should be noted that athletes, actors, businesspeople, and those who want to visit their relatives try to pass the checkpoints quite often.

The border guards worked in an enhanced regime to prevent provocation on the elections day. The number of people who were heading to Ukraine increased several times due to elections.
