“Ukraine’s Border Guard Service confirms the growth of the general passenger traffic, which the border guards recorded. Since the beginning of the year this figure made 93 million citizens, and given the time left in December, it might exceed 100 million people per year. It should be noted that 29% out of the total number of registered citizens are foreigners, that is 27 million people. The statistics demonstrate a steady tendency to the increase in the number of foreign citizens who cross the Ukrainian border. This index is reducing now,” the border guards informed.
In comparison, 26 million foreigners visited Ukraine in 2014-2015, and 27 million came to this country in 2017.
“These are mostly citizens from Moldova (4.1 million), along with people from Belarus (2,5 million), Russia (1,5 million) and Poland (1 million). A significant flow is observed from Hungary (828,000), Romania (645,000), Israel (296,000), Slovakia (294,000) and Turkey (287,000). At the same time, the border guards record the increase of the number of the British citizens (+33,000), the U.S. citizens (+30,000), the guests from Germany (25,000), Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, France, Sweden, Canada (the growth rates vary from 5,000 to 7,000), Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Czech Republic, China (from 10,000 to 15,000) and Saudi Arabia and Japan (+3,000 each). In total, more than 1 million border crossings by the foreigners were recorded,” the State Border Guard Service concluded.
It was also noted that the foreigners come to Ukraine mostly by air. In total, 4.8 million foreigners crossed the Ukrainian border via airports.
Earlier, it was reported that the biometric data recording system for the citizens of 70 states started working in Ukraine on January 1, 2018.
