In Ukraine, the police closed 1,500 trade enterprises, dozens of nightclubs and gyms for violation of the weekend quarantine as the Interior Ministry reported citing Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.
According to Klymenko, the law enforcers observed the majority of the quarantine violations in the regions, where the local authorities refused to fulfill the regulation of the government. Besides, the violations were spotted in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
“During this weekend, the law enforcers followed closely the observation of the requirements of the weekend quarantine provided by the regulation of the government. Totally, police closed over 2,400 economic entities on Saturday-Sunday that worked despite the regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers. Over 1,500 trade enterprises, about 800 food facilities, about 30 nightclubs and 20 gyms are among them,” Klymenko reported.
The law enforcers compiled over 2,000 administrative protocols against people responsible for violation of quarantine and opened nine criminal proceedings.
“Police act within its authorities and respond respectively to all violations of the current legislation. If the citizens openly ignore the law, they should suffer an appropriate punishment,” he underlined.
As we reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision to introduce the weekend quarantine all over the country. The strict quarantine will act from 00:00 a.m. Saturday until 00:00 a.m. Monday. On the weekend, only objects of the critical infrastructure, particularly, groceries, drug stores and transport will work in the country. The work of shopping malls, sport centers, fitness centers, swimming polls, theaters and holding of the mass events is banned.
However, the Verkhovna Rada is offered to abolish the weekend quarantine. The parliament submitted proper recommendation to the Cabinet of Ministers.
