The appeals court upheld the judgment of Kyiv District Court of Simferopol, specifying the term of the arrest due to the mistake the first instance court made – it expires on January 24, 2018, but not on January 25.
It is about the commander of “Yany Kapu” tug-boat Oleg Melnychuk, the commander of “Nikopol” armored boat Bogdan Nebylytsia, the captain 2nd rank Denys Hrytsenko, leading crewman Yuriy Bezyazychny and sailor Yevgen Semydotsk. The appeals of their lawyers were the last complaints the institution received from the defence of the Ukrainian sailors.
State-appointed lawyers of three detained sailors – Andriy Eyder, Andriy Artemenko and Volodymyr Tereshchenko and the officer of the Ukrainian special service Vasyl Soroka – did not appeal against their arrest.
“The disciplinary committee will deal with our careless colleagues,” the lawyer Mykola Polozov said earlier.
The defence will appeal against the detention of four Ukrainians in the cassation procedure.
Therefore, appeals against the arrest of 20 out of 24 Ukrainians were considered in the court of appeal over six days.
Crimean Supreme Court left 15 Ukrainians in custody in December.
