17 cases of infection with the Delta coronavirus strain were observed in Ukraine as of July 28 as Ukraine 24 TV channel reported citing Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.

According to him, the cases were confirmed in Kyiv city, Zakarpattia, and Lviv regions.

“Concerning Ukraine, as of today, we determined 17 cases of Delta strain…The majority of them were confirmed by PCR test, not sequencing,” he noted.

Besides, Kuzin confirmed the death of one of the patients with the “Indian” strain. He had coexisting diseases.

The Chief Sanitary Doctor noted that the majority of the infected people visited Russia and other countries, where wide spread of Delta strain is observed.

As we reported, the experts of the Public Health Centre of Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry assumed that the new wave of coronavirus would reach Ukraine this autumn. However, it could reach the country even earlier.

Meanwhile, six more suspicions of the Delta strain were recorded, the biomaterial of the patients was sent to European laboratories.
