A 12-year-old boy died from measles in the hospital in Mukachevo, Zakarpattia region, western Ukraine, as reported.

Chief Doctor of the regional children's hospital Roman Shnitzer claimed that a boy, the resident of Strabychovo village was taken to the hospital's infectious disease unit. Initially, he was in the moderate state.

'Preliminary, the doctors diagnosed him with measles. He was sick for a week approximately. The family did not ask for the medical service in time. Besides, he was not vaccinated. It was the late admission," he explained.

According to Shnitzer, the boy's conditions deteriorated sharply and he was transferred to the intensive care unit.

'His limbs were cold, he had his blood microcirculation violated. We urgently transferred him to the intensive care unit. The negative dynamics continued there; the pressure dropped, the breakdown of the vital organs took place and amid these processes, a child died. Such an instant current of illness,' the doctor noted.

The parents of a child filed a complaint to the police against the doctors due to their improper performance.

Mukachevo regional police department noted that the information was added to the United Register of the Pre-trial Investigations.

The hospital noted that they hold all expert studies and on the results of them the further actions will take place.

'We should have the results of the forensic study, we need to know the exact cause of the death of a child and confirm it at the medical and legal autopsy. The immunoglobulins were taken to confirm the diagnosis of the measles, and it cannot be done quickly. Only then, we can hold further actions. It concerns the last stage of the treatment when he was taken to our hospital. We need to hold the commission survey and find out why the child was not vaccinated - exactly like we do it when a child is one and four years old,' the doctor claimed.
