112 Agency

112 Ukraine TV channel directed a request to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine. We request an answer.

Information Request

Under Law of Ukraine

‘On access to public information’

An e-petition ‘On preventing the suppression of freedom of speech in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions on the broadcasters of 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV channels’ after № 22/047294-ep was registered on the website of the official online agency of the Ukrainian President on October 9. 2018.

As of today, the request is filed due to the situation with incorrect counting and displaying signatures in the petition № 22/047294-ep available on the link: https://petition.president.gov.ua/petition/47294.

Considering the above, guided by Art. 1, 5, 12, 13, 19, 20 of the Law of Ukraine "On Access to Public Information", please explain the situation described above and provide answers to the following questions:

  • Why the counter has been showing a number, which is considerably lower than the actual number of signatories (only 18,957 of 26,906 votes counted)?
  • What is the procedure of the votes verification? How long does it take to check a vote? How many people involved in the verification of the votes for № 22/047294-ep petition?
  • It has been two weeks, since the № 22/047294-ep petition collected necessary for its consideration 25,000 signs but the Presidential Administration paused the process. Is such a delay in the enrollment of the votes common practice? Will the problem to be solved and what time the petition to be considered?

We are asking to give an answer for this request in terms stipulated by law.

Cordially,

Director General

Ehor Benkendorf
