1,400 police officers and soldiers of the National Guard were wounded during the mass events since the beginning of 2017. Serhy Kniazev, the Chief of the National Police of Ukraine claimed this at the press conference following the results of the work in 2017 as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.
According to him, 72,000 events took place in Ukraine and 28 million of citizens participated in them.
‘Unfortunately, we state that more than 700 events took place with the clashed where the partaker and the police officers suffered. 62 police officers and eight protesters were wounded during the last events. Totally, 1,443 officers of the police and the National Guard got traumas of various degrees of severity while fulfilling their duties, Kniazev said.
He noted that the newly created detachments of the tactic police and communication police started their work in 2017. The officers of these detachments visited all events and held the work with the active partakers or the organizers. Kniazev called their work effective but there is a potential for improvement.
