The first day of participation in the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow for the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was quite busy - he managed to talk with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson and leaders of more than a dozen other countries, the press service of the Ukrainian president reports.

"The heads of state and government spoke about important aspects of bilateral cooperation between the countries, as well as global and regional challenges related to climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, the energy crisis and the security situation in Europe, including eastern Ukraine, and the world," the message reads.

During Zelensky's dialogue with Johnson, they discussed military-defense cooperation, the European and world agendas.

In addition, the President was able to hold talks with the Prime Ministers of Israel Naftali Bennett, Sweden's Stefan Löfven, Georgia's Irakli Garibashvili, Luxembourg's Xavier Bethel, Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg and Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

On the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference Cop26, Zelensky also spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The brief meeting was devoted to the current security situation in Donbass, establishing peace in the region, the energy crisis in Europe and ways to overcome it, as well as topical issues of relations between the two countries, informs Office of the President.

Zelensky also met with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, Latvian President Egils Levits, European Council President Charles Michel, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of Northern Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, and President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso. All these meetings concerned, for the most part, Ukraine's bilateral relations with these countries and with the European Union.

The development of further fruitful cooperation between Ukraine was discussed during Zelensky's talks with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso.

As it was reported, the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) officially opened in Glasgow, Scotland on Sunday.
