President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell met in Ukraine within the latter's first visit in Ukraine. The official discussed the creation of a negotiation platform for the liberation of Crimea. The press department of the President's Office reported that on September 22.

"To us, it is a crucial issue to have the constantly working playground, where we raise, first of all, humanitarian issues, issues of human rights, issues of Ukrainians on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea, and the issue of return of our occupied territory in general", Zelensky said.

The EU High Representative also learned about the current security situation in Donbas and the course of living up to the agreements reached during the Paris summit held in December 2019.

Zelensky claimed that EU representatives are welcome to arrive in Donbas and personally witness how the Russian mercenaries "obey" the ceasefire.

Borrell, in turn, claimed that the EU would never recognize the occupation of Crimea by Russia.
