Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin boasted that BBC used the correct version of the English name of Kyiv. He reported this on Twitter

‘Glad to see that BBC has probably heard something about our media campaign CorrectUA and spells our capital name already correctly: Kyiv not Kiev. Thank you!’ the Minister claimed and attached the screenshot of the BBC article he liked. The article about Russian hackers who commit offenses by order of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU).

At the same time, the Minister of Ukraine’s diplomacy stressed that the British people yet incorrectly spell Odesa: Odessa instead of Odesa.

Klimkin believes that foreign media started correctly spell the names of Ukrainian cities owing to media campaign CorrectUA.

As was reported before, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry started the campaign dubbed KyivNotKiev, asking the foreign media to spell their capital city correctly. Ukrainian authority also suggests that international media use purely Ukrainian spelling for such cities as Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and others, as well as 'Ukraine instead of the widespread mistake, 'the Ukraine.'
