Plenary session of the European Parliament on the abolition of visas for citizens of Georgia is scheduled for February 2. This was reported on the official website of the European Parliament.

After the adoption by the Ministerial Council, the text will be signed and published in the Official Journal of the EU.

In connection with the political decision of the EU member states, the abolition of visa requirements for the citizens of Georgia as well as Ukraine will enter into force only after the introduction of the new suspension mechanism of the visa regime for all third countries.

As it was reported earlier, European Parliament Committee voted in favor of visa-free regime for Georgia on January 12.

The EU-Georgia visa free regime will take effect along with the mechanism of the visa-free regime suspension – on the same day.

It is noteworthy that the European Parliament postponed the consideration of granting visa-free regime for Ukraine for February 1, 2017.
