Vienna police has confirmed the fact of another detention. It was done on the basis of European arrest warrant, issued by Spain, in the case against Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash in Spain. This was reported by DW.

According to the message, law enforcers confirm that detention was carried out in terms of the case which was initiated in Spain on suspicion of money laundering by Firtash. The law enforcement officers did not officially announce the detainee, however they did not deny the message by local News agency, which wrote about Ukrainian-Syrian businessman living in Vienna.

As the DW says, this is about Ares Yousef, the former adviser of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko. The central office of his company is located in Austrian capital.

Yousef was allegedly in charge of money coming from Firtash, according to Spanish media. Businessman of Syrian origin has worked in Ukraine for many years, including in oil and gas industry. Ex-Head of Presidential Administration earlier noted that Yousef was the one to recommend Dmytro Firtash to Yushchenko as a mediator in gas supply from Russia.
