President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the United Nations should use effective tools in solving problems and be closer to them. The head of the state announced that in an interview with Dom TV channel.
“I really believe that sometimes we move problems from one year to another. With all due respect to the UN General Assembly, I don't see global problems being solved. But I see rhetoric that everyone wants. We all want a lot. But there must be effective tools. I also believe that if there are certain countries that have the right to veto but do not even come - how will it help people? The United Nations is the “ambulance” for the global problems of mankind,” the president said.
He noted that Ukraine does not criticize anyone but initiates new formats, and it also offers to create new platforms for dialogue exactly where there are global problems.
“We say: let's do summits, create new platforms. In those places where there are problems. Because you need to be closer. When you live with a problem, for example, the occupation of Crimea, you understand - what it is, how it could be resolved. That is why we have offered to hold the Crimean Platform. There are also many different problems around the world. And we are ready to support, say, such a “decentralization” of important meetings,” Zelensky said.
As it was reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky joined the opening of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on September 21.
