Ukrainians appear to have made it to the top as Lithuania's largest foreign community. Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported that with the reference to the Migration Department of Lithuania.
Since early 2019, almost 17,000 Ukrainians have been registered in this country; that's 42 percent more than a year ago.
At that, the number of Russians who arrived in Lithuania makes about 12.5 thousand people; that's three percent less than it was in 2018. The number of Belarusians in Lithuania is just about the same; it grew by a third over a year.
Together, the citizens of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus make 84 percent of all foreigners who reside in Lithuania. The largest communities of citizens of EU member countries make the citizens of Latvia, Germany and Poland.
In general, the share of foreigners makes only 2 percent form the total population of Lithuania.
