Ukrainian troops to take tests on meeting NATO standards

As part of the Rapid Trident-2021 military exercises, Ukrainian units will pass tests for compliance with NATO standards. Press center of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reported that on September 26.

During the multinational Ukrainian-American military exercise, NATO servicemen will assess the capabilities of Ukrainian units to work with Allied forces. The verification program is the main mechanism of the partnership, helps to increase the level of compatibility. Its main task is to assess the level of readiness of units of the Armed Forces of partner countries to participate in operations of the Alliance together with NATO troops.

“We will assess the readiness of two Ukrainian units: the NBC force and the engineering and sapper troops. The team of assessors is an international one. It includes both specialists from Ukraine and officers from Austria, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Sweden. All of them are professionals with vast practical military experience. As part of the assessment, a team of specialists must check more than 800 items of readiness and compliance with international standards,” Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Lykhosherstov reported.

As it was reported earlier, Rapid Trident 2021, the multinational military drills started in western Ukraine on September 20. The event is to take place on the premises of the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Safety of the National Academy of Ground Forces in Lviv.
