Populists and oligarchs inhibit the implementation of the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Hugues Mingarelli, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine expressed such an opinion at the session of the Assembly of the Ukrainian side of the civil society platform Ukraine-EU, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
'As you all know, there are a lot of people in Ukraine who don’t like the agreement, who want to prevent the implementation of it. We call them populists and oligarchs. All these people are not interested in making political and economic structures of the country modern,' he said.
Along with this, he pointed out that there are relevant ministries which motivated to implement the agreement, but we need a support from all of them.
'As you all know, we confront with a strong resistance and it is not something new. If we want to beat the resistance, then we need to gather a lot of Ukrainian representatives. To do so we need to explain what the implementation of the agreement means for citizens' life,' the ambassador mentioned.
The process of the implementation of the agreement is still complicated in the Committees of the Verkhovna Rada 'Ukrainian Parliament', Mingarelli added.
Reportedly, Petro Poroshenko claimed that the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU is completed by 15 percent.
