The approval of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement by the Dutch Senate shows that the Netherlands have been a friend and partner of Ukraine on the way to its political association and economic integration with the EU. This was mentioned in the official statement by the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
‘The convincing majority that supported the bill has proved that the Netherlands are our friend and partner on the way to political association and economic integration with the EU. We’re grateful to our colleagues from the Netherlands and other countries and institutions of the EU that have been shaping a solid basis for the deal’s support in the Dutch society and official circles. We hope for fastest possible completion of the necessary internal procedures in the Netherlands and the fast ratification of the deal by the Euratom and the EU Council,’ the statement reads.
‘Remembering the price that Ukrainians paid for the Association Agreement, its full-fledged enactment is our common moral obligation. This deal is the key path pointer in terms of implementation of systematic political, social and economic reforms, based on the best European standards that aim for better living conditions for Ukrainians. Together, we have beaten the obstacles on this way; we will provide the fastest possible and most effective implementation of the deal,’ the message concludes.
