Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba welcomed the recent resolution approved by the European Parliament; the document foresees considerable sanctions boost if Russia invades Ukraine. This is mentioned in Kuleba's statement posted on Twitter.
"I'm grateful for the European Parliament's clear response to threats to Europe's security coming from Russia. Russia must wrap up with the aggression against Ukraine. The illegal blockade in the Black and Azov Seas must be over. Ukraine welcomes the call to introduce constant monitoring of navigation in the Kerch Strait", Kuleba wrote.
According to him, Ukraine called for these signals to show the Kremlin possible price of the new wave of aggression. Kyiv also welcomed the urge to stop construction of Nord Stream 2 and Rosatom's initiative in Europe.
As is known, the European Parliament has adopted a resolution on Russia, which provides for the strengthening of sanctions against Moscow in form of an embargo on oil and gas exports, and disconnection from the SWIFT system in case of an invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. The text of the resolution on Russia, the case of Alexei Navalny, the military build-up on Ukraine’s border and Russian attacks in the Czech Republic (2021/2642 (RSP)) is published on the website of the European Parliament.
