Ukraine has completed the process of voluntary contribution to the budget of the Council of Europe. The sum made 400,000 U.S. dollars. Ukraine's permanent office at this institution reported that on Facebook.

The Ukrainian government noted that the Council of Europe's welfare worsened after Russia refused to make any voluntary contributions in 2017. According to the message, the Kremlin is trying to use financial blackmail in order to return the Russian delegation to the PACE.

'In these conditions, the government of Ukraine decided to support the Council of Europe financially. We made a voluntary contribution in addition to our obligatory payments to the budget', the Ukrainian government reported.

The money is supposed to be used for funding the ECHR, fighting corruption, fighting racism and intolerance, torture prevention, protection of minorities, the equation of rights of men and women, protection of journalists and cultural heritage safety.
