Hugh Mingarelli, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine is of opinion that Ukraine should not ask for the intense association with EU. He said this during the interview to Interfax-Ukraine.

'From my point of view, the joint and preferred aim of EU and Ukraine is to implement the Association Agreement and Agreement of in-depth and all-inclusive Free Trade Area. This is in the interests of Ukraine to not ask for a new Association Agreement but implements the existing. Ukraine will eliminate all obstacles to trade and investments between Ukraine and EU when it implements the Free Trade Area with EU. It means that Ukrainian economy will become a part of our joint European market. This is the maximum that you can receive for today’, he said.

Mingarelli is of opinion that the Association Agreement with EU will be ratified in the next few weeks.

‘I cannot say more precisely. But you should know that the main points of Agreement already work even if it is not entirely ratified yet. We are not just sitting and waiting when the Netherlands will ratify the agreement. We implement the agreement de-facto’, he explained.
