Ukraine should have a powerful governmental authority to reform national laws and bring them to accordance with EU legal basis. The office also should have the right to fire ministers who fail to comply with their commitments. Polish MEP Jacek Sariusz-Wolski said this during a discussion at the Ukraine’s Week in the European Parliament.
According to Dmytro Shulga, Director of European program of International Renaissance Foundation, Sariusz-Wolski stressed that the office needs 300-400 skilled workers. It should check all legislative acts for consistency with EU legal frameworks and assess how the ministries conduct the Action Plan of Implementation of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. In case any minister fails to implement it, he should be fired by this office.
